Philip Stone

Philip Stone (actually: Philip Stones ) (born April 14, 1924 in Kirkstall (now a district of Leeds ), West Yorkshire , † June 15, 2003 in London ) was a British actor .

Career

Stone, who served in the Royal Air Force during World War II , has starred in 49 feature films since making his acting debut in 1961. Among them are three of Stanley Kubrick's most famous films : In A Clockwork Orange he played Alex's father, in Barry Lyndon he played the role of lawyer Graham and in The Shining that of the dead caretaker who had killed his family.

Other striking films were Hitler - The Last Ten Days (1972), the cartoon The Lord of the Rings (1978), SOS Titanic (1979), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and The Bible - Moses (1996).

Stone was married to Margaret Pickford from 1953 until her death in 1984; the two have three children.
