Philipine van Aanholt

Philipine van Aanholt (born May 26, 1992 in Utrecht , Netherlands ) is a sailor from Curaçao .

Career

Aanholt is the daughter of the sailor and Olympian Cor van Aanholt . In 2003 she contested her first international regatta in an Optimist at the North American Championships off Valle de Bravo (Mexico). In 2008 she became the girls' world champion in Splash .

Later, the Laser Radial became the boat class in which it mainly competes. At the 2011 sailing world championships off Perth, she was 83rd, and 37th the following year at the Women's Laser Radial World Championship off Boltenhagen.

She qualified for the London 2012 Olympics. After the National Olympic Committee of the Netherlands Antilles lost its recognition by the IOC after the island association was dissolved, she received permission to compete in London as an independent Olympic participant.

She studies economics at the University of Groningen . The hometown club is Youth Sailing Curaçao, their trainer is Martin Jenkins.
