Philipp Avril

Philipp Avril (born May 9, 1866 in Dürkheim ; † after 1915) was a German architect who mainly worked in Munich . His buildings also include the Schönleiten Villa in Bayerisch Gmain . He was a member of the Association of German Architects (BDA).

The villa he is planning in Bayerisch Gmain is rated by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation as unique. The house is a "characteristic motif on historical postcards of the community" and has a high degree of architectural and historical importance. For the region, the villa, which, in addition to regional borrowings, is based on English country house architecture and forms an interface between historicizing design language and an early modern age , and which would be more likely to be found in the metropolises of that time, is “rarity”.
