Philipp Bargfrede (born March 3, 1989 in Zeven ) is a German soccer player .
Career
Bargfrede grew up in Heeslingen and started playing football at TuS Heeslingen . In 2004 he moved to the junior division of the Bundesliga club Werder Bremen . In the spring of 2008 he came to his first appearances in the second team of the club in the Regionalliga Nord . From the 2008/09 season he played for Werder Bremen II in the newly founded 3rd division , but already completed the preparation under coach Thomas Schaaf with the first team.
He has been a member of the Bundesliga squad since the 2009/10 season. On August 8, 2009, he made his first division debut when he was substituted on for Tim Borowski in the 74th minute in the 2: 3 opening defeat at home against Eintracht Frankfurt . Three days later he was used for the first time in the German U-21 team at the Lobanovskiy Cup in Ukraine against Turkey . With Werder Bremen he took part in the Europa League 2009/10 and made seven European Cup games until he was eliminated in the second round. The following season, SV Werder qualified for the UEFA Champions League , Bargfrede made eight appearances, but failed with the club in the group stage. In preparation for his fifth Bundesliga season with Werder, he injured his meniscus and was out for four months. When he returned to the squad on November 30, 2013, he scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 4: 4 against TSG Hoffenheim.
His contract with Werder Bremen was extended in March 2018. The contract period was kept secret. After the contract expires, Bargfrede will go through a trainee program at Werder Bremen. On July 7, 2020, his contract with Werder Bremen expired.
