Philipp Hermann Eichens
Philipp Hermann Eichens (born September 13, 1813 in Berlin , † May 17, 1886 in Paris ) was a German lithographer and engraver .
Life
Eichen was a student at the Berlin Art Academy from 1829 to 1832, and from 1830 to 1832 he was a student in the studio of the painter Wilhelm Hensel . He then worked as a lithographer. He stayed in Paris between 1835 and 1838 and traveled there together with the painter Carl Blechen and the art dealer Louis Friedrich Sachse . From 1836 frequent participation in the Berlin Academy exhibition and from 1838 regular participation in the Paris Salon. Between 1839 and 1845 he stayed again in Paris. From 1845 Eichens is in Berlin and studies engraving and etching with his brother Eduard Eichens . He learned the mezzotint technique from Gustav Lüderitz . From 1849 he made reproductions in Paris for the art dealer Adolphe Goupil . In 1874 he was appointed a foreign member of the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts Berlin .
