Philip IV of Dalberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Philip IV von Dalberg (* 1490 or 1491 ; † January 13, 1533 ), came from the von Dalberg family of imperial knights and was mayor of Oppenheim several times .

origin

Philip IV of Dalberg was a son of Friedrich VI. von Dalberg (1459–1506) and Katharina , daughter of Dieter and Anna von Gemmingen (around 1462–1517).

family

Philipp IV von Dalberg married Katharina in 1521 (* 1503; † March 26, 1563), daughter of Philipp von Kronberg and Katharina von Bach . After the death of Philip IV, Katharina married two more times: first Kaspar von Kronberg, then in 1537 Friedrich IX. von Fleckenstein († 1559). Philip IV and Katharina von Kronberg had a son, Philip V (* 1529 or 1530; † September 6, 1590). In 1549 he married Helma († 1564), daughter of Johann Heinrich Roeder von Rodeck and Agatha von Weiler. After her death, Philip V married again in 1565, namely Anna († October 9, 1612), daughter of Damian von Handschuhsheim and Ursula von Fleckenstein .

Life

Philip IV was the Burgmann of Landskron Castle in Oppenheim and that was the last knightly descent. With his death both the local "council of knights died out" (as a contemporary chronicle reports) and there was no longer a knight among the local castle men. But since his son inherited him, this is not the case.

Philip IV was mayor of Oppenheim several times, for example in 1521, 1524, 1526, 1528, 1530 and 1532.

In 1517 Philip IV went on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and became a Knight of the Holy Sepulcher .

death

There are different details about the place of his burial. The parish church of Ramberg , the Katharinenkirche in Oppenheim and the parish church of St. Peter in Herrnsheim (today: Worms ) are mentioned.
