Philipp Kamps (born June 26, 1966 in Hamburg ) is a German architect and university professor in Buxtehude.

life and career

Philipp Kamps comes from a family of six . His father Gerhard Kamps was also an architect. After graduating from high school in 1985, he did community service as a nurse in the Walddörfer Children's Hospital, Hamburg. He then completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer from 1987 to 1989. In 1989 he began studying architecture at the Technical University of Braunschweig , which he completed in 1995. Philipp Kamps has been married since 1997. He lives and works in Hamburg.

Philipp Kamps worked from 1995 to 2000 in the architects Gerkan, Marg and Partner . In 2000 he made together with Giorgio Gullotta and Hakki Akyol independently . From 2002 to 2007 he was teaching at the Buxtehude University of Applied Sciences . From 2002 to 2009 Kamps was a member of the competition committee of the Hamburg Chamber of Architects. In 2006 he was appointed to the Association of German Architects (Hamburg local group). Two years later, he was appointed lecturer at the Academy of Architectural Culture in Hamburg. 2010 Kamps got the lectureship in architectural drawing of the Fachhochschule Hannover . Since this year he has also been a member of the management and partner in the architecture office "akyol kamps: bbp". He was appointed professor at Hochschule 21 in Buxtehude in 2011.

style

Kamps designs buildings with an open floor plan and straight lines. The concept of its architecture is the balance between functionality and aesthetics . In the room of silence he embodies this idea of ​​architecture. The modern simplicity of the room is complemented by an elegant lighting concept and loosened up by color accents. The prayer room has received several awards recognizing this individualism in architecture.
