Philipp Mayer (politician, 1918)

Philipp Mayer (born March 8, 1918 in Eisenberg (Palatinate) , † March 14, 1988 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school from 1924 to 1932, he completed an apprenticeship as a printer in Grünstadt and the vocational school in Ludwigshafen by 1937 . In 1937 he passed his journeyman's examination and took up a job in teaching. In 1938 he was with the RAD , which was followed by military service and until July 1946 as a prisoner of war in the USA.

From 1946 to 1947 he worked as a post office worker. He then worked as a printer at E. Sommer in Grünstadt until 1958. During this time he was elected works council chairman in this company from 1948 to 1958 . From 1958 he worked as an independent sales representative in the publishing industry.

Political party

Mayer joined the SPD in 1946. He was deputy chairman, chairman of the SPD local association Eisenberg and sub-district chairman of the SPD Kirchheimbolanden and Donnersbergkreis. From 1964 to 1969 he was a member of the SPD district executive board of the Palatinate.

Public offices

Landtag Rhineland-Palatinate

Mayer was elected for the first time in the state elections in 1967 in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and belonged to this three electoral terms from May 18, 1967 to May 17, 1979. The petitions committee was a member of all electoral terms . In the 6th electoral term he was the Secretary of State . In the 7th electoral term he was also a member of the Committee on Administrative Reform.

In 1979 he was a member of the 7th Federal Assembly .

Communal functions

From 1952 to 1956 he was a member of the Kirchheimbolanden district council . From then until 1967 he was a member of the Palatinate District Assembly . From 1964 to 1983 he was first alderman of the city of Eisenberg and from 1972 to 1983 of the Eisenberg community .
