Philipp Ott

Philipp Ott (* 1985 in Bamberg ) is a German opera singer (tenor).

Life

After his vocal training in Bamberg with the contralto Astrid Schön, Ott first studied vocal pedagogy at the University of Catholic Church Music and Music Pedagogy in Regensburg from 2009 , but then moved to the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen , where he successfully completed his training in singing / music theater in 2014 . His teachers included u. a. Jan-Hendrik Rootering . Ott has been completing a master’s degree since 2016.

During his studies he already took on several leading roles in university productions. He sang u. a. Il Tinca in Il tabarro by Giacomo Puccini , Rodolfo in La Bohème and the Chevalier de la Force in Dialogues des Carmélites by Francis Poulenc .

In the summer of 2014 he made his official, professional operatic debut at the Theater Hagen in Albert Lortzing's opera Undine in the role of Hugo von Ringstetten. In June 2015 he sang Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at StadtOper Soest .

Ott also appeared as a concert and lied singer. In December 2014 he sang in the Bamberg Erlöserkirche in the Magnificat for solos, choir and orchestra by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach . In February 2015 he sang Franz Schubert's song cycle “ Die Schöne Müllerin ” for the first time in Bamberg . In July 2015 he sang the tenor part in Requiem by Antonín Dvořák . In the summer of 2016 he first takes over the tenor part in Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi .
