Philipp Pöter (born April 1, 1986 in Marl ) is a German handball player . Since 2018 he has been playing for HC Rhein Vikings in the middle back space .

Career

Pöter began his handball career at PSV Recklinghausen near his home town of Marl . At the age of 17 he switched to the A-youth of TUSEM Essen , with whom he failed in the fight for the German championship only in the semi-finals at SC Magdeburg . In the following five years he played for the HSG Düsseldorf in the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga .

After Pöter achieved promotion to the Bundesliga with the Düsseldorf team in 2009, the middle man returned to TUSEM Essen, where he initially played in the 2nd division for three years. In the 2011/12 season , the playmaker played a major role in his team's promotion to the Bundesliga with 104 goals. For the 2014/15 season he joined the second division club SC DHfK Leipzig . In summer 2016 he moved to HSG Wetzlar . He has been under contract with HC Rhein Vikings since the 2018/19 season .
