Philippe Autexier

Philippe Alexandre Autexier (* 1954 in Châtellerault , † 1998 in Poitiers ) was a French musicologist .

Life

Philippe Alexandre Autexier was a French music historian, musicologist, journalist and Masonic researcher whose research on WA Mozart and other Masonic composers is of particular importance.

He has taught at several conservatories and universities in France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain and the United States.

Autexier developed critical editions of musical works and documents on musical history from Mozart to Béla Bartók . He has also designed numerous radio programs on French, English, German and Swiss radio stations.

In 1998 he committed suicide.

Autexier's academic papers are kept in the Freemasons archive in Bayreuth . His research suggests, among other things, that the Austrian national anthem was not composed by Mozart, but rather by Paul Wranitzky .
