Philippe Roux (born December 7, 1952 in Verbier ) is a former Swiss ski racer . Roux was a member of the Swiss national team for ten years and was one of the best downhill skiers in the world in the mid-1970s.

biography

Roux entered the international World Cup scene in the early 1970s . Between 1972 and 1979 he was among the top ten in a total of 26 races. His best results were three second places in the Kandahar downhill run in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (January 1973), the 3-tre races in Madonna di Campiglio (December 1975) and the Lauberhorn race in Wengen (January 1976).

At the zenith of his career he was Swiss champion in 1975 and 1976 in the downhill and fourth in the Olympic downhill from Innsbruck . In the downhill ranking of the World Cup also took fourth place in the 1975/76 season .

In December 1976, a serious fall in Val Gardena interrupted his career. After a one-year break, he returned to the World Cup, but announced his resignation after the 1978/79 season . Following his athletic career, he concentrated entirely on the sports shop that he opened in 1974 in his hometown Verbier.
