Philippe d'Artois (Conches)
Philippe d'Artois (* 1269 ; † September 11, 1298 ) was lord of Conches-en-Ouche , Mehun-sur-Yèvre , Nonancourt and Domfront . He was the inherited son of Robert II (X 1302), Count of Artois , and the Amicia de Courtenay († 1275).
Philippe d'Artois inherited the dominions of Conches-en-Ouche and Mehun-sur-Yèvre from his mother, and was also lord of Nonancourt and Domfront. In November or December of 1281 he married Blanche de Bretagne (1270-1327), daughter of John II , Duke of Bretagne and Beatrix of England . Your children were:
- Marguerite (* probably 1285; † 1311), heiress of Brie-Comte-Robert ; ∞ Louis de France , Comte d'Evreux ( House of France-Évreux )
- Robert III (* 1287; † 1342), 1302 pretender of Artois, 1329 Comte de Beaumont-le-Roger , 1334 Earl of Richmond ; ∞ Jeanne de Valois, daughter of Charles de France , Comte de Valois (family list of the Valois )
- Isabelle (* probably 1288; † 1344), nun in Poissy
- Jeanne (* probably 1289; † after 1348), ∞ Gaston I. , Comte de Foix ( House Comminges )
- Marie (* probably 1291; † 1365), at Merode ; ∞ Jean I. de Dampierre ; † 1331, Comte de Namur ( House Dampierre )
Philippe d'Artois was so badly wounded on August 20, 1297 at the Battle of Veurne that after more than a year, on September 11, 1298, he died of the consequences. Since he died before his father, he was never Count of Artois. When his father Robert II of Artois was killed in the Battle of Spurs in 1302 , a conflict over succession broke out in the county, in which Philippe's sister Mathilde succeeded in seizing power after she had married Philip's only, minor son, Robert had agreed.
