Phillip Hinkle

Phillip D. Hinkle (born December 25, 1946 in Peru , Indiana ) is a former Republican member of the House of Representatives from Indiana , where he represented the 92nd electoral district and thus the western third of the Wayne and Pike townships from 2000 to 2012 .

Career

Hinkle earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Indiana State University in 1970 and a Masters in Political Science in 1979.

After serving three years as a teacher at Ben Davis High School , he joined the Indianapolis City-County Council as director of research for three years. In 1978 he was elected tax revenue in Wayne Township, Indiana . He was confirmed in office three times.

In 1991 he became a real estate agent and ran for Indianapolis City-County Council. After being elected to this body, he served until 2000, when he was first elected to the Indiana House of Representatives.

During his tenure, he served on the Standing Election and Seat Allocation Committee and the Government and Regulations Reform Committee.

He voted for the state's constitutional amendment that made marriage exclusive between a man and a woman.

In 2011, Hinkle was embroiled in a scandal when an 18-year-old, whose ad on craigslist Hinkle replied to have a good time , claimed that Hinkle grabbed his butt in his hotel room, then dropped his towel and stripped himself naked put the bed of the hotel room. Hinkle offered the young man who had changed his mind about the meeting money and electronic devices to help him keep quiet.

Some Republican party comrades demanded Hinkle's resignation, but Hinkle insisted not to be gay and not to resign. However, he agreed not to be re-elected in 2012.

Personal life

Philip Hinkle is married to Barbara Hinkle, nee Conti; the couple has two children.
