The Pholidopleuridae are an extinct bony fish family from the subclass of the cartilaginous organoids (Chondrostei). The group lived in the Triassic . From Madagascar vertebrae from the Permian are known, which can possibly be assigned to the Pholidopleuridae.
features
A characteristic feature of the family is the division of the parietal bone into a mosaic of small bone plates and the homocerke caudal fin. The Knorpelganoiden Palaeonisciformes they have the structure of the skull, and the anatomy of the thoracic, abdominal, dorsal and anal fins together with the genuine bony fish (Teleostei) the lack of Cosmin and Ganoinschichten in the shed.
