Physalis glutinosa is a plant type from the genus of jujubes ( Physalis ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Physalis glutinosa is an herbaceous or slightly woody, heavily branched plant that can reach up to 1.30 m high and wide or grow hanging out of crevices. The leaves are somewhat sticky with articulated, flat hairs 1 to 1.5 mm long. In between there are also shorter trichomes that have glandular heads. The leaf bladesare egg-shaped, sometimes heart-shaped or rarely almost circular. The larger leaves are 3 to 6 cm long and 2 to 5 cm wide. The leaf margin is curved like a sawtooth or almost entire. The underside of the leaf is often hairy with protruding trichomes, while the upper side of the leaf has trichomes attached to it, which often appear only along the main veins and shortened or only pronounced as a trichome base. Sometimes there are only smaller leaves on some branches.

The relatively large flowers stand individually in the axils on 7 to 20 mm long petioles . The calyx is elongated or ovate-elongated, 8 to 12 mm wide at the base and 10 to 18 mm wide at the level of the calyx lobes. A quarter to two thirds of the length of the sepals are these individually and form narrow triangular and sometimes tapering calyx lobes 4 to 11 mm long. The crown is bell-shaped or almost bell-shaped, 20 to 35 mm long and 30 to 40 mm in diameter. The coronet is not bent back and not divided into corolla lobes. The outer areas of the coronet are yellow, the rest of the crown is almost exclusively spotted purple from the large stains. However, these stains are almost no longer to be seen in herbarium specimens . The anthers are colored yellow with a slight blue tinge, 3.5 to 5 mm long and 1.3 to 2 mm wide. They stand on long, slender stamens that are 10 to 15 mm long.

On the fruit, the stem elongates to 10 to 23 mm. The calyx enlarges to 25 to 45 mm in length and 20 to 30 mm in width. It surrounds a berry with a diameter of 12 to 20 mm.

distribution

The species is common in Mexico .
