description

The Strada Hector , Strada Popa Șapcă and the Bulevardul Take Ionescu flow into a roundabout that surrounds a fountain ( Romanian Fântână cu Punctele Cardinale ) in the middle of the square.

In the north and east, the square is lined with residential and commercial buildings; a striking point here is the modern Altas Telecom building designed as a small tower on a square area .

At the southern end of the square are the remains of the Maria Theresa Bastion , part of the historical fortress . Here you will also find the ethnographic museum as well as some shops, restaurants and a casino.

At the southwestern tip of the square, the Dicasterial Palace extends over an entire building block. The palace is the largest public building in the city and the seat of the Timiș County Court and some other legal administrative bodies, as well as finance and law firms. The path leads past it over the Piața Țepeș Voda to the Piața Unirii .

In the west of the square there is a narrow group of trees, the Parcul UPC , named after the telecommunications provider UPC . In the row of houses behind the group of trees on Strada George Coșbuc are among other things the house with the iron axis ( Romanian Casa cu Ax de Fier ) and the Luther Church ( Romanian Biserica Evanghelică Lutherană ).
