Irving Pichel
Irving Pichel (born June 24, 1891 in Pittsburgh , † July 13, 1954 in Hollywood ) was an American actor and film director.
Life
Irving Pichel studied at Harvard University and did not get into acting until 1930. In 1932 he made his first film with Graf Zaroff - Genie des Böse as co-director of Ernest B. Schoedsack . From the 1940s he worked exclusively as a director and only appeared in small roles in his own films. He was also active as a radio announcer and was heard as a narrator in John Ford's films So Green Was My Valley and The Devil 's Captain. His film Endstation Mond was awarded the Bronze Bear at the 1951 Berlinale . Pichel was married to Violette Wilson, sister of actress Viola Barry and daughter of the former mayor of Berkeley .
Pichel died of heart failure on July 13, 1954 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California at the age of 63.
