Pierfrancesco Diliberto (born June 4, 1972 in Palermo , nickname Pif , onomatopoeic for bang , the bang ) is a Sicilian television presenter, director, screenwriter and actor who also exerts political influence through his work.

Life and work

As the son of the director Maurizio Diliberto , Diliberto began with small film roles at the age of ten. After graduating from high school, he went to England, where he attended television presenter courses in London. Back in Italy in 1998 he worked as assistant director to Marco Tullio Giordana on the set of the film One Hundred Steps , in which the fight against the Mafia in the life of an Italian politician is portrayed. The film won five awards, the David di Donatello and the 2000 Venice Film Festival . At the same time, Diliberto started working for Mediaset as a television writer in Milan .

In 2001 he started as a screenwriter on the satire and comedy series Le Iene Show (The Hyena) , which has been produced on Italia 1 since 1997 . In the same year he became a writer and then a reporter for the comic TV show Le Iene . The television show dealt with typical youth activities in northern Italy and Sicily . Diliberto attended events of the Lega Nord in the north and reported on events in Sicily in the south. He got his nickname Pif from TV comedian Marco Berry during a program while both were working for the music channel MTV Italia at MTV Day 2007 .

In 2007 Diliberto made his first own television format, the documentary series Il testimone , in which people from everyday life who otherwise had no voice had their say. A special camera work conveyed urgency and unvarnished, real life to the viewer. From 2011 he expanded his program with the soap opera Un posto al sole (A place in the sun) to include everyday events from well-known personalities from television, sports and politics.

In addition to this apparently easy conversation, Diliberto also devotes himself to serious topics again and again. In May 2012, on the 20th anniversary of the death of the famous fighters against the Cosa Nostra , the two lawyers Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino , he published the report “Sarà stata una fuga di gas” in the publication Dove Eravamo. Vent'anni dopo Capaci e via D'Amelio . In October 2013, he gave a speech at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence during the event, at which the Mayor Matteo Renzi , supported by the Vice-President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Rosy Bindi , attacked the statements of the President of the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission Vladimiro Crisafulli .

In 2013 he made his directorial debut in the film La mafia uccide solo d'estate , in which he is involved as a screenwriter, director and leading actor. The film was produced at Wildside and premiered in Palermo in the fall of the same year. In October 2016 he presented his second film as director In guerra per amore at the Rome Film Festival .
