Piergiorgio Gay

Piergiorgio Gay (born July 7, 1959 in Turin ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Gay grew out of the Scuola Ipotesi Cinema founded by Ermanno Olmi ; his first work was the short film La faccia nacosta della luna, made in collaboration with his fellow student Maurizio Zaccaro . He then shot documentaries for Radiotelevisione Italiana and worked as an assistant director for Zaccaro, Olmi and Michele Placido . His debut film Tre storie was co-directed with Roberto San Pietro in 1998, followed two years later by Guarda il cielo and in 2002 La forza del passato , which was shown at the Venice Film Festival . Since then, Gay has made several documentaries .

In 2010 Gay shot his fourth feature film, Niente paura .
