Maurizio Zaccaro (born May 8, 1952 in Milan ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

Zaccaro graduated from the Scuola del Cinema in Milan in 1977 . Immediately afterwards he made short films such as Overkill , with which he won the prize at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in 1981 . Later, Zaccaro devoted himself to television in addition to the screen .

In 1991 he won the " David di Donatello " as best new director with his film Dove commincia la notte . In 1992 he won the “Premio Solinas” for his screenplay L'articolo 2 . In 1993 his film Kalkstein (La valle di pietra) was chosen for both the Venice International Film Festival and the Montreal one . This work is a film adaptation of the novella Kalkstein by the Austrian writer Adalbert Stifter . In 1999 he won the "David di Donatello" with his film Un uomo perbene .

Zaccaro's most successful television productions are La missione (1997), Un dono semplice (2000), Cuoret (2001), and I ragazzi della via Pal (2003). Other successful television productions are Al di là delle frontiere (2004), Mafalda di Savoia (2005), O Professore (2006) and Il bambino della domenica (2007). The last production to be mentioned is Die Swingmädchen (Le ragazze dello Swing) .
