Pierluca , actually: Pierluca degli Innocenti (* 1926 in Florence , Italy ; † July 26, 1968 in Paris , France ) was an Italian sculptor who lived and worked in France for several years.

life and work

Pierluca studied from 1948 to 1956 at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence and in the same year received a prize from the Ministry of Education in Rome . In 1951 he had his first solo exhibition at the Galleria Numero . From 1955 to 1957 he worked exclusively on a special project for the city of Florence, where he dealt with the restoration of historical glass windows and studied traditional metalworking by hand . From 1958 he devoted himself entirely to his sculpture. He worked with welding techniques and in the forge . From 1958 to 1959 he created metal walls in collaboration with the architect Leonardo Ricci . Pierluca moved to Paris in 1960, where he lived and worked until his death. Pierluca was a participant in the Venice Biennale and in 1964 also represented in the sculpture department at documenta III in Kassel . In 1968 he died in an accident.

Pierluca specialized in welding metal sculptures. As a politically and socially engaged person, he wanted to address the tensions and conflicts of his time in his art. These included, for example, the Algerian War and the Vietnam War . All his art is a scream of horror was the headline in 1965 in the Netherlands.
