Pierpoljak (* 7. September 1964 in Paris as Pierre-Mathieu Vilmet ) is a French reggae - singer .

biography

Vilmet grew up in the Parisian banlieue , first in the department of Essonne , later in Colombes in Hauts-de-Seine . In the 80s he was the drummer in a punk band called Samu 92 . He later lived in an occupied house in London , where he learned about reggae.

Musical career

In 1989 and 1990 he was represented for the first time with his own pieces on various samplers. His first, self-titled album was released in 1995 by Barclay Records . In 1996 the album En Jamaica was released , which, like the following, was created in Jamaica at Tuff Gong Studios in collaboration with producer Clive Hunt . Kingston Karma , published in 1998, sold well in France with over 300,000 copies for a reggae album and was awarded a platinum record . The singles Je sais pas jouer and Pierpoljak , which were awarded gold , also had great success . In 2000 his fourth solo album Je fais c'que j'veux was released and achieved gold status in France.
