Pierre-Augustin Béclard

Pierre-Augustin Béclard (born October 12, 1785 in Angers , † October 17, 1825 in Paris ) was a French doctor and anatomist.

Live and act

Pierre Augustin Béclard was born into a poor family. For four years he took part in courses at the Hôtel-Dieu hospital in Angers as an “in-house”. In 1808 he went to Paris, where he was appointed prosector of the faculty in 1811 . In 1812 he replaced Dupuytren as head of anatomy work. In 1813 he received his medical doctorate and in 1815 he became a surgeon at the Paris Hôpital de la Pitié. For a few years he gave private courses in anatomy and surgery . In 1818 he received the chair of anatomy at the Paris faculty.
