Pierre-Louis Barbou

Pierre-Louis Barbou (born October 13, 1732 in Dammartin-sur-Tigeaux , Département Seine-et-Marne , † after 1793) was a French Catholic priest who was politically active at the beginning of the revolution .

Life

He was representative of the first estate in the French Estates General of 1789 for the electoral district of Meaux . There he did not draw any further attention to himself. The Almanac of Deputies reports on him: "He did not succeed in stepping out of the shadow of Jacques Bénigne Bossuet , Bishop of Meaux."

As an opponent of the revolutionary reforms, he resigned on October 29, 1789 and was replaced by the Abbé Pierre-Jean de Ruallem . Although he took the oath on the constitution, was condemned on April 2, 1793 as an opponent of the revolution and was banished. He then withdrew to Switzerland . No further information is known about him.
