Pierre Cohen
Pierre Cohen (born March 20, 1950 in Bizerta , Tunisia ) is a French politician of the Parti Socialiste . From 2008 to 2014 he was mayor of Toulouse .
biography
As the son of a French Catholic and a Jewish soldier from Tunisia, where he later was followed in 1958 by Germany to Mazamet, made Cohen 18 years his Bac , which corresponds to a German Abitur. He graduated from Paul Sabatier University with a doctorate in computer science and then worked as an engineer at IRIT until his resignation in 1972 .
In 1974 Cohen joined the Parti Socialiste .
From 1983 to 1989 he was a member of the council of the municipality of Ramonville-Saint-Agne and was its mayor from 1989 to 2008. From 1986 to 1992 he was a member of the regional assembly of the Midi-Pyrénées region . Since 1997 he has represented the third constituency of the Haute-Garonne department in the French National Assembly, for which he was last re-elected on June 17, 2007 in the 13th electoral term - his third in total.
