Pierre Hammarstrand (born March 23, 1978 in Lerum , Sweden ) is a former Swedish handball player . He is 1.89 m tall and weighs 88 kg.
Hammarstrand, who last played for the Swedish club Ystads IF HF (shirt number 9) and ran for the Swedish national team, was used as right winger.
Pierre Hammarstrand started playing handball at neighboring Alingsås HK . There he also made his debut in the Swedish first division. In 2002 he moved to TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke in the German handball league . He stayed with Ostwestfalen for three years and was relegated to the second division in 2004. Although the immediate resurgence succeeded with 68: 0 points, Hammarstrand moved on to Spanish newly promoted BM Aragón in 2005 . In the very first season he qualified for the EHF Cup with the men from Saragossa and even made it to the final of this competition in 2007, but lost to the German SC Magdeburg Gladiators there . In 2007 he returned to Sweden, where he joined the Ystads IF HF. In 2014 he ended his career in Ystad and then took over as assistant coach. After the 2016/17 season, his contract with Ystads IF ran out.
Pierre Hammarstrand has made 37 appearances for the Swedish national team . In international competitions he never won a medal with Sweden; he did not even qualify for the 2007 men's handball world championship in Germany with Sweden.
