Pierre Tercier

Pierre Tercier (born April 5, 1943 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a Swiss legal scholar . He is a professor at the University of Freiburg im Üechtland .

Life

Tercier studied law at the University of Freiburg from 1962 to 1966. After completing his doctorate with Henri Deschenaux in 1971 , he worked at the University of Geneva , the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg and the University of Cambridge .

In 1973 he was offered a professorship for the Law of Obligations at the University of Freiburg. From 1987 to 1989 he was Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Freiburg.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, he has also taught comparative law for trade and arbitration in France, Germany and Switzerland at the University of Paris II (Panthéon-Assas) . At the university he launched the “Maîtrises intégrées Friborg / Paris II” course, which ends with a dual degree - a French and a Swiss master’s degree. In 2004 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Paris II for his commitment .

Pierre Tercier has taught as visiting professor at Columbia University (New York) and the University of Turin . Since 1988 he has been a permanent visiting professor at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne .

He held positions as President of the Swiss Competition Commission and as President of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
