Pierre de Fénin (date of birth and death unknown: 1st half of the 15th century, * in Arras , † probably 1433 ) was a chronicler of the 15th century. He came from a noble family from Artois .

Life

A French-language chronicle Mémoires de Pierre de Fenin is attributed to him, which covers the period 1407 to 1427 and reports, among other things, of the battle of Azincourt and the murder of Louis de Valois, duc d'Orléans . The memories also describe the tensions and struggles between various French noble houses and address the civil war of the Armagnacs and Bourguignons . They end with the founding of an independent country complex with the counties of Holland , Zeeland , Friesland and Hainaut by Philip III.

The memoirs were first published in 1653 by Denis Godefroy . The first scientific edition dates from 1837 and was entitled Mémoires de Pierre de Fénin comprenant le récit des événements qui se sont passés en France et en Bourgogne sous les règnes de Charles VI and Charles VII (1407–1427) .
