Pierre du Cambout, duc de Coislin

Pierre du Cambout, duc de Coislin (also: Pierre de Coislin ) (* 1654 in Paris ; † May 7, 1710 in Versailles ) was a French nobleman, professional officer, courtier and member of the Académie française .

Life

Pierre du Cambout was the son of Armand du Cambout de Coislin and the nephew and godchild of Cardinal Pierre du Cambout de Coislin . He was the older brother of Henri-Charles du Cambout de Coislin . In 1683 he married Louise-Marie d'Alègre († 1692), the sister of Yves d'Alègre . Through their sister he was brother-in-law of Colbert's son Jean-Baptiste Colbert, marquis de Seignelay . He was a career officer. On the death of his father in 1702, as Marquis de Coislin, he inherited his title of Duke of Coislin and Peer of France and also succeeded him in seat 25 of the Académie française. He died without offspring at the age of 56.
