Still life with musical instruments

Pieter de Ring (* 1615 / 1620 in Ypres (); † 22. September 1660 in Leiden ) was a Dutch painter who on still life was dedicated. He became famous for his rich banquet displays with fruit, shrimps, oysters, musical instruments, books and treasures such as nautilus bowls or Chinese porcelain. He often signed his pictures with a ring or the Latinized form of his name, such as P.Ab.Annulo .

Life

Since, for example, parts of the Ypres City Archives were lost during the First World War , Ypres can only be indexed as the birthplace of de Ring and that of his mother. The family, like many Flemish textile workers, moved to Leiden.

In his youth he worked as a bricklayer during the day and drew in the evening; the other family members all worked in the fabric industry. After he had painted a number of pictures, he went to Jan Davidsz's with his grandfather's consent . de Heem in the apprenticeship. In 1647 he became a founding member of the St. Lucas guild, as did Gabriel Metsu and Jan Steen .

From his studio in Leiden he had a clear view of the botanical garden designed by Charles de l'Écluse . De Ring never married, didn't own a house, and didn't leave a will. He was buried in the Pieterskerk . His work shows the influence of Willem Claesz Heda .
