The Pilchuck River is a river in Washington state . The name is derived from the Chinook jargon pilpil ("blood", "red") and chuck ("water"), ie "red water".

River course

The Pilchuck River has its source in the Cascade Range . It flows mostly west, then south after Granite Falls to flow into the Snohomish River near Snohomish . The Snohomish River empties into part of the Puget Sound , the Possession Sound .
