Pilot (comic magazine)
Pilot was a German comic magazine , published by Volksverlag as a licensed edition of Pilote by the French publisher Dargaud . Pilot concentrated on artistically demanding comics and erotic content and tried to position himself between the Schwermetall comics, which are published by the same publisher, with a focus on science fiction / fantasy, and the humorous, often grotesquely exaggerated ones in U-Comix .
Von Pilot first appeared twelve issues in 1981, before being discontinued due to unprofitability. Issues 13 to 26 were published from September 1983 to October 1984. For the re-edition, the concept was only slightly changed, the artistic ambitions were scaled down a bit and shallower fare was brought in: “The main thing is that it knocks you out of everyday lethargy and can be sold”, so Editor Raymond Martin .
Mainly comics by French and Belgian authors such as Enki Bilal , Gérard Lauzier , Philippe Druillet , Georges Pichard , Gotlib , Régis Franc, but also international artists such as Milo Manara or Julio Ribera were published in Pilot .
