Pindarev Island ( English ; Bulgarian Пиндарев остров Pindarew Ostrow ) is a southeast-northwest orientation 250 m long, 115 m wide and 1.9 hectare large island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 590 m east-southeast of Cape Sheffield and 950 m west of Chiprovtsi Point off the north coast of Rugged Island , from which it is separated by a 35 m wide strait .
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2020 after the Bulgarian painter and draftsman Tenju Pindarew (1921-2010) for his contributions to the support of Bulgarian Antarctic research.
