Ogygia Island ( English ; Bulgarian остров Огигия ostrow Ogygia ) is an east-west facing 420 m long and 70 m wide and 2 hectare large island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 580 m south of Cacho Island , 6 km south-southwest of the northeastern extension of President Head , 12.15 km northeast of Cape Conway and 29.8 km northwest of Deception Island off the east coast of Snow Island . It is part of the southwest shore of Ivaylo Cove . It is separated from the Hall Peninsula by a 110 m wide strait .
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2020 after the island of Ogygia from Greek mythology .
