The Pine Mountain is a ridge of the Appalachian Mountains , which runs through the three states of Kentucky , Virginia and Tennessee of the United States of America over a distance of 200 km . The mountain range begins near Jellico , Tennessee to near Elkhorn City , Kentucky. The highest point is Birch Gap Peak at 998 meters above sea level and is east of Whitesburg , Kentucky.

The ridge with a notch height of 354 m is only crossed at one point by the Cumberland River near Pineville , Kentucky.

Numerous nature park areas and hiking trails lie along its foothills, for example. B. Pine Mountain State Resort Park and Kingdom Come State Park , Breaks Interstate Park , Kiwanis Raven Rock Park , Kentenia State Forest , Pine Mountain Trail State Park and the Little Shepherd Trail .
