A pinealoma is a tumor of the pineal gland .

Tumors of the pineal region account for up to 1% of intracranial tumors in adults and 3–8% of brain tumors in children and are therefore among the most common tumors in children.

Clinical criteria are:

Pinealomas usually only appear through increased intracranial pressure as a result of compression of adjacent structures with the typical signs of headache , nausea and vomiting . Neurological deficits, especially Parinaud syndrome , can also occur.

Diagnosis is made by imaging the best means of magnetic resonance imaging .

Differential diagnosis

Differential diagnosis are an ependymoma , a pilocytic astrocytoma , papilloma , teratomas and malformations delineate the inner cerebral veins.
