Pinging
Pingfang ( 平房 區 / 平房 区 , Píngfáng Qū ) is a municipality in the sub-provincial city of Harbin in the Chinese province of Heilongjiang . The city district has an area of 93.8 km² and has around 160,000 inhabitants (end of 2009).
history
The headquarters of Unit 731 was in Pingfang during the Second World War . Research and experiments, including on humans, in the field of biological warfare were carried out there by the Japanese Army , which was occupying large parts of China at the time .
Administrative structure
At the community level, the district is made up of six street districts and two large communities . These are:
- Baoguo Street District (保 国 街道);
- Lianmeng Street District (联盟 街道);
- Road quarter Xingjian (兴建街道);
- Road quarter Xinjiang (新疆街道);
- Xinwei Street (新 伟 街道);
- Youxie Street District (友协 街道);
- Greater community Pingfang (平房镇);
- Greater community Pingxin (平新镇).
