Piotr Bratkowski

Piotr Bratkowski (born April 11, 1955 in Warsaw ) is a Polish poet , prose writer , publicist , literary and music critic and translator .

Life

Bratkowski attended high school in Warsaw from 1969 to 1973. After graduating from high school in 1973, he studied Polish studies at the University of Warsaw . In 1972 he made his debut as a poet with poems that were performed as a pause during the monodrama Jak to było naprawdę by Wojciech Siemion . In 1974 he co-founded the short-lived group of poets Argo and in 1975 of the Moloch group . In 1977 he obtained his master's degree and began studying philosophy at the University of Warsaw. In the following years he wrote articles and features for various magazines. In 1989 he became a member of the Association of Polish Writers (Stowarzyszenie Pisarzy Polskich) . From 1990 to 1993 he was a council member of the Warsaw district Żoliborz . From 1990 to 1991 he was a member of the Ruch Obywatelski Akcja Demokratyczna and from 1991 to 1992 of the Ruch Demokratyczno-Społeczny . In 1991 he was also editor-in-chief of Atak magazine , of which only two issues appeared. He has been writing for Gazeta Wyborcza since 1992 . From 1997 to 2002 and from 2014 to 2016 he was a member of the jury for the Nike Literature Prize . Since 2002 he worked for Newsweek Polska . In 2004 he was co-founder of the Stowarzyszenie Miłośników Kryminału i Sensacji “Trup w szafie” and until 2015 a juror of the Nagroda Wielkiego Kalibru .

He lives in Warsaw.
