Piotr Socha

Piotr Socha (born November 13, 1966 ) is a Polish graphic artist and illustrator of picture books .

Life

Socha studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw .

He worked as an illustrator for various well-known newspapers and magazines, including Gazeta Wyborcza , Polityka , Newsweek , Przekrój , Playboy , Wysokie Obcasy , Harvard Business Review , and the Polish public broadcaster Telewizja Polska and is considered one of the most popular cartoonists in Poland. In the German-speaking world, he was best known for his non-fiction books for children.

He lives and works in Warsaw .

Work (selection)

The book Pszczoły ("Bees") has been translated into English, French, Italian, Spanish, Czech, Russian, Dutch and Chinese as well as German.

Prizes and awards

In 2017, he received the German Youth Literature Award in the non-fiction category for his picture book bees . In the same year in Austria, it was named Science Book of the Year in the Junior Knowledge Books category by an audience jury.
