The Piperkov Point ( English ; Bulgarian Пиперков нос Piperkow nos ) is a headland in the southwest of Elephant Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is 9.4 km northwest of Cape Lookout and 2.2 km southeast of Stinker Point and forms the northwest boundary of the entrance to Krastanov Cove .
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2019. It is named after Captain Christo Piperkow, from 1988 to 1991 director of Ocean Fisheries in Burgas , whose fishing fleet in the waters around South Georgia from the early 1970s to the early 1990s , operated around the Kerguelen , around the South Orkney Islands and the South Shetland Islands, and around the Antarctic Peninsula .
