Piplockenburg is a residential area in the municipality of Calvörde .

The village is located about ten kilometers north-west of Calvörde and two kilometers west of Mannhausen im Drömling . The Mittelland Canal runs through the village . In the north lies the Kämkerhorst with the Drömlingsinformationszentrum Kämkerhorst . To the east of Piplockenburg, immediately north of the Mittelland Canal, there is the artificially created flat water zone Mannhausen , which is designated as part of the Ohre-Drömling nature reserve and serves as a habitat for numerous water-loving birds.
Surname
According to an explanatory legend, a castle is said to have stood in the former Drömling marshland. It was fiercely contested and the knights of the castle came up with a trick: They called with whistles, revealing their location. The intruders believed their target had been recognized and went after the whistle. In fact, they recognized the castle and were already sure of their victory. What they did not consider, however, was the moor and swamp area . As the enemy advanced, they sank into the moor and were lost. This is how the name "Piplockenburg" came about, which in the real sense meant "Piep lock in castle" - the whistling of the clever castle lords to attract the enemies and then sink them into the moor.
