Krastjo Stojanow Pishurka (also written Krastjo Stoyanov Pishurka , Bulgarian Кръстьо Стоянов Пишурка ; * 1823 Wraza or in Lom ; † January 6, 1875 ibid) was a Bulgarian theater director and actor as well as teacher and national writer from the time of the Bulgarian national rebirth .

Life

Childhood and youth

Most sources speak of a family of writers from which Krastjo Pischurka is said to come. For other sources, the family origin of Krastjo Pischurka is uncertain.

It is said from his early childhood that the residents of his village fled into cisterns during an attack. This attack is associated with the Russo-Turkish War (1828–1829) . Krastjo Pischurka is said to have been saved and then raised in Ukraine by a Belarusian officer.

He attended elementary school in Wraza and later studied at the Greek school in Plovdiv , graduating from the Greek school in Istanbul .

Act

He was one of the first Bulgarian directors and actors. In 1856 he founded the Tschitalischte in Lom. Since women were not allowed to perform, he took on the role of Genowewa at the premiere on November 30th jul. / December 12th 1856 greg. . He was arrested for "evoking patriotic sentiments" and sentenced to three months in prison.

After being driven out of Lom, he became a teacher in Vidin . In 1862 he returned to Lom, where he opened a bookshop in 1872.

Krastjo Pischurka left an extensive literary work, translated and Bulgarian dramas and novellas . He worked for the following newspapers and magazines: Zarigradski Westnik , Makedonija , Zornitza , Tschitalischte and Utschiliste .

Marriage and offspring

In Lom he married Angelina. She and her husband got involved in the context of the Bulgarian Revival . In 1858 she founded the first Bulgarian women's association in Lom.

They had five children: Maria, Alexander Krastjo, Viktoria, Stephan and Grosdanka. Maria died as a child. Alexander Krastjo took part in the preparations for the April uprising . As a volunteer in the Bulgarian Landwehr, he died in the battle of the Shipka Pass . Victoria married the teacher and writer Dimiter Marinov in Lom. Stephan emigrated to Leipzig and started a family there. He was friends with Konstantin Jireček . Grosdanka herself had no offspring, she raised the youngest daughter of her sister Viktoria.

In 1933 a memorial to him was inaugurated on the square in front of the Tschitalischte in Lom. During the socialist era , a town south of Lom was named after him. In Lom today he is honored with a theater festival that takes place at the end of September.
