Pit Kroke
Pit Kroke (born March 1, 1936 in Fürstenwalde / Spree ; † November 1, 2016 ) was a visual artist who was best known for striking steel sculptures in public spaces. His works can be found in public places in New York and Bologna , but also in German cities. The "history wall" in the Willy-Brandt-Haus is also well -known , with which Kroke presents the history of social democracy in a large format on 180 m² in 32 individual objects. Against the background of a photo of the opening of the wall, still images from TV reports and other objects are shown here.
Pit Kroke initially studied experimental photography in Berlin, but also worked as a painter, sculptor and graphic artist. The artist, who lived temporarily in Sardinia , lived in Berlin since 1992 . Krokes is buried at the Zehlendorf forest cemetery, Potsdamer Chaussee 75.
