The Plaça de toros de Palma ( Castilian Plaza de toros de Palma ) or Colisseu Balear ( Coliseo Balear ) is the bullring of Palma , the capital of the Spanish Mediterranean island of Mallorca and the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands .

The 11,620-seat arena with four main boxes and a diameter of 44.5 meters is located in Avenida del Arquitecto Gaspar Bennazar , northeast of the center of Palma. It is owned by Exclusivas Balaña SA , based in Barcelona . The Colisseu Balear is on the monument protection list of the city of Palma.

history

The 11,000 square meter bullring in Palma was planned from 1915. The architect Gaspar Bennàssar i Moner was commissioned with the creation . After the foundation stone was laid on August 21, 1928, the first bullfight (Corrida) took place on July 29, 1929, and the historicizing rotunda was inaugurated .
