Plaetner pen

The Plaetner-Stift ( also : Plaetners Stift) in Flensburg - Westliche Höhe is a former foundation building in Mühlenstraße 8-10. It is one of the city's cultural monuments .

background

The monastery building was probably built in 1880 by master bricklayer Christian Hummel. In Flensburg, a number of monastery buildings emerged over the course of time , such as the Munketoftstift in downtown Flensburg , the Rönnenkamp Stift in Fruerlund and, in 1885/86, the Plaetners Heim , also a foundation building, at Ritterstraße 7-9. The Plaetner-Stift in Mühlenstraße is a two-story yellow stone building with a gable roof . The center of the street facade is emphasized by a central projectile with a triangular gable. In the middle of the front there are two entrances. A foundation plaque with the information "Plaetner's pen 1880" hangs in the said area. In 1978, two kitchen extensions with loggias were added to the back of the building. The purpose of the Plaetner-Stift is given as “care for adults” in the archived city files. The building at Mühlenstraße 8 apparently served this purpose of the foundation until at least 1980 .
