The Planex technology in Textil GmbH is a medium-sized company based in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . The company is a manufacturer of technical textiles and produces, among other things, large-area sun protection sails . The company describes itself as the market leader for large sun sails, such as those used in swimming pools, playgrounds or garden shows.

history

1974 Gerhard Waldner founded Planex Planen Zelte Hallen GmbH in Mannheim . The company started out as a handcrafted company with standardized products. The focus of the company's activity was the manufacture and rental of protective tarpaulins and tents .

In 1993 the company moved to Ludwigshafen. A larger company site and better machine equipment made a wider range of products possible. Special products in the areas of sun protection , noise protection and facade cladding were added. Instead, the original tarpaulin business migrated to other countries, and tent rental became unprofitable. Planex withdrew from the rental and private customer business. The company switched the product range from standardized products to custom-made products for customers from industry, trade and architecture.

In 2006 the company was renamed Planex Technik in Textil GmbH. On September 1, 2008, the then operations manager, Jörg Haertle, acquired the majority in the company and replaced the previous managing director, Peter Frick.
