history

Excavations in the area revealed a human presence since the Neolithic . A fragment of a flint and various objects prove the settlement from around 3500 BC. The area had been used for agriculture since the Middle Ages, with mainly wheat being grown. After the Second World War it was necessary to reconstruct many buildings. Planoise became one of the largest construction sites in France in the late 1970s.
