Platja de Canyamel ( Castilian : Playa de Cañamel ) is a natural beach in the northeast of the Balearic island of Mallorca and belongs to the seaside resort of the same name, Canyamel .
Location and description
The beach is located in the municipality of Capdepera in a nature reserve (type: ANEI). It is 300 meters long and on average 80 meters wide, sloping gently and therefore also very suitable for small children. During the main season , the beach is popular not least because of its easy accessibility via the developed road from Artà or Capdepera, without the beach looking overcrowded. Mallorca's largest stalactite caves, the Coves d'Artà , are easily accessible within ten minutes on foot.
The Red Cross monitors the beach during the summer months. A police station is also in the immediate vicinity. The usual facilities for a touristic beach such as showers, toilets, kiosk, bars, restaurants, deck chair or umbrella rental and a rescue station are also available.
In 2002 the local government approved, among other things, 595 loungers, 235 parasols, six water pedal boats, a surveillance tower, a signal mast and a Cruz Roja (Red Cross) rescue station with all the necessary first aid equipment and a dock for lifeboats.
A little south, still within the bay of Canyamel, are the two small rocky beaches of Cala Albarxians (also: Cala Auberdans) and Cala Rotja.
