history

In April 2007, the first edition (05/2007) of play³ appeared with a print run of 115,000 copies (publisher information). This was thematically based on the similar publication of the same name previously published by CyPress .

The former editor-in-chief of CyPress-Verlag, Stephan Girlich, has been responsible for the editorial content of the magazine since the magazine was first published. Other former editors of the publisher were also involved in the editing of the first edition. Shortly after the publication of the first issue, numerous personnel changes were announced in the Cynamite.de forum: Heiko Strobel and Markus Rehmann left the publishing house, Sascha Adermann switched to the sister issue PC PowerPlay . In return, Marc Kirzeder joined play³, who until then had been the editor of the DVD magazine DVD Vision published by the same publisher . After the Computec publishing house had taken over play³, the editorial team was largely replaced by that of the PlayZone that previously appeared at Computec .

In 2010 play³ was staffed by the editors Thorsten Küchler, Wolfgang Fischer, Uwe Hönig, Sascha Lohmüller and Viktor Eippert. Other layouters like David Mola, Stefanie Zehetbauer and Matthias Schöffel follow. Maik Bütefür left the editorial team for an unknown reason in February 2009. After Maik Bütefür, Christian Schönlein left the editorial team with the 09/2010 issue. Other articles in the magazine are written by editors from the sister magazines. In March 2009, Udo Crnjak also left the editorial office to go back to his old job as a nurse, which he had previously practiced until he went to PlayZone . In November 2012 Toni Opl also turned his back on editorial work. From the 03.2013 edition, the role of editor-in-chief was to be taken over by Wolfgang Fischer, while the previous editor-in-chief Thorsten Küchler was to take over the management of the DVD editorial team, but will continue to be editor of the magazine.

2014, the magazine named after release of the new console PlayStation 4 in Play⁴ order. The editorial team also looks after the magazine N-Zone . The current editorial team consists of Sascha Lohmüller (head), Marco Cabibbo, Viktor Eippert, Benjamin Kegel, Lukas Schmid and Christian Dörre.
